Please save the date of 22nd - 24th September 2023 where we will be joined by special guests Sensei Jorge Montiero, 8th Dan IOGKF from Portugal, and Sensei Luis Nunes, 8th Dan IOGKF from Spain.

Sensei Jorge Montiero

Jorge Monteiro, Chief National Instructor of Portugal, was born on September 17, 1961 in the city of Gaia. In 1974 he started training Karate Shotokai at a scout club and started training Shotokan in September 1976.

In 1977 he met Sensei Morio Higaonna, on an internship in the city of Porto, from which he started practicing Goju-Ryu. It was also at this stage that he obtained 1st place in Kumite and Kata in the first Goju-Ryu championship in Portugal.

In 1979 he participated in the first international Gasshuku of Goju-Ryu, in England, during which I.O.G.K.F. ( International Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Federation ). In 1980 he graduated 1st Dan from Sensei Morio Higaonna, during a European internship, in Spain.

In 1984 he was selected by the National Karate Federation and participated in the 19th European Championship of WUKO ( World Union Karate-Do Organization ) in France. In 1987 he was a 2nd Degree Instructor by the Martial Arts Directive Commission.

In 1988 he was chosen as Chief Instructor of Portugal by Sensei Morio Higaonna. In 2000 he was appointed a member of Shikoin Kai, IOGKF Executive Committee, Sweden.

In 2004 he is awarded the title of Shihan by Sensei Morio Higaonna. Arbitrated several times in the national championships of F.P.K.D.A. ( Portuguese Karate Federation and Associated Disciplines ), F.N.K.-P. ( National Karate Federation – Portugal ) and in I.O.G.K.F world championships. He is currently a Karate Coach – Grade IV.

More recently, in 2015, he traveled to Okinawa for the IOGKF Chief Instructor Internship which takes place every two years, where he graduated 8th Dan.

Sensei Luis Nunes

Sensei Luis Nunes is loved and adored by IOGKF members all over the world. A popular instructor at all European Gasshuku’s, Sensei Luis has taught in over 15 different countries and began his Karate training in the 1970’s.

Now the chief instructor of Spain, he has been a loyal student of Sensei Higaonna since 1978 and received his Shodan at the very first ever IOGKF European Gasshuku in 1980.
